Byobu, Folding screen – Paper, Silk, Wood – Crane – Magnificent two panel screen with a painting of 2 cranes (tsuru) and 3 smaller cranes in a landscape – Japan – Late Edo ( 1800-1850)

Magnificent two panel screen with a painting of 2 cranes (tsuru) and t3 smaller crane in a landscape with mountains a large pine tree, bamboo and apricot blossom.
Two of the three chicks are hidden behind the large cranes (see the close up pictures)
The feathers, legs and beaks of the cranes are nicely detailed.
The clouds in the sky are executed in nice warm gold-leaf.
The screen has a dark blue brocade border. Some small repairs but overall in nice original condition given the age.

These kind of room-dividers are light in weight and can also be easily mounted flat on a wall and presented as one piece of art.
