A VERY RARE AND IMPORTANT Famille Rose ‘Faux-Bois’ Bowl, Qianlong Six-Character Seal Mark and of the Period (1736-1795)

A very rare and important Chinese Qianlong Period Famille Rose Enamel and Sgraffiato-Decorated Porcelain Bowl. The ogee-form bowl supported by a straight, tall foot rising to a gently flared rim, the interior executed in ochre and reddish-brown with a faux-bois (false wood) design, the exterior decorated with brilliant enamels depicting lively, leafy peonies in their progressive, seasonal blooming stages, against dense spiral fern patterns finely incised through thick white enamel, the base inscribed in underglaze blue with a six-character Qianlong seal mark and of the period. Diameter: 8 1/4 inches (21 cm)
