Bowl – Lacquer – China – Ming Dynasty (1368-1644)

Exceptional Chinese Ming dynasty ‘tixi’ bowl with white metal lining. Raised from a straight foot into a gently flared body with lipped mouth rim. The sides deeply carved with pommel scroll decoration exposing layered lacquer work. Signed 弼 ”bì”, ‘to assist’, suggesting that it once belonged to the assistant of a ruler.
